Organizing Meeting Tomorrow!

November 13, 2008

Dear Friends,

The PTA supporting Isaac Litton will be conducting a brief meeting to organize our group tomorrow, Friday November 14th, at 6PM at the new coffee house Ugly Mugs on Eastland Ave. Our desire is to be an organization who supports our children in a democratic manner with an invitation to all.

PTA members, we particularly hope that you will be able to attend this meeting so that you may participate in electing your representatives. A few elected officials will be available to answer any questions and to hear your concerns.

Membership in PTA is open to all – parents, educators, students, and community members – who are concerned with the education, health, and welfare of children and youth. So please feel free to invite anyone who is interested in supporting the students, teachers and parents of Isaac Litton Middle School.

Again, I want to emphasize that this is an open invitation to anyone who wishes to attend.

Wendy Poston

Past President, PTA

Sherry Choate

Secretary, PTA

Ugly Mugs is located in the Walden building at 1888 Eastland Ave., across from the Rose Pepper Cafe. Their phone number is (615) 915-0675.

What is PTA?

A PTA is a partnership between parents and educators who strive to enhance student learning and enrich the lives of the students within the school. It is also a forum for parents to obtain knowledge and voice their opinions about what is happening in their school.

Why Join PTA?

The number one reason to join the PTA is to benefit your child. In doing so, you also help your school. But there are many more advantages. Here are just a few:

Get Connected. There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school. (As a member, you will receive informative emails that will keep you connected and informed!) You can also get school information at Litton’s website

Tap into a Network. Parenting is not easy – it helps to share ideas, concerns and experiences with other parents and educators in the community. PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building rapport and discussing issues that are on your mind.

Watch Yourself Grow. By volunteering with PTA, you gain valuable experiences. It’s an opportunity to put your skills and hobbies to good use for a good cause—your child and all children in the community.

Speak Up. Because the PTA is a forum for exchanging ideas, you are encouraged to make suggestions. PTA can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at your child’s school. Check out the PTA sponsored blog site (right here) including an RSS feed ( to get up to date PTA and community news, and post your thoughts and ideas.

Witness Improvement. By getting involved at your child’s school you’ll be part of the solution, helping make positive changes. Local PTAs play an important role in fundraising to provide building improvements, curriculum based programs and social events – all vital to a school’s success.

Join Us Today and get a FREE Smart Card! Simply fill and and return this PTA membership form to your child’s teacher, along with a $12.00 cash donation for each member and get a FREE Smart Card with over $100 in clip and save coupons as well as discounts at many local merchants. Donations to the PTA are tax deductible and $2.75 of the membership fee will go to support the efforts of the State and National PTA. Members are not required to participate, but we welcome your opinions and your helping hands. Please join us at a meeting or pledge to volunteer by checking the box on the PTA form.
